Since I got my new oven a week and a half ago, I've pretty much called off any activity that hasn't involved cookies. ("No, I cannot possibly make dinner; I have cookies to bake. No, you can't make dinner, either. Salmonella Sand Cookies aren't on the list this year, sorry. Here, have a broken Gingerbread cookie.") With the cookies now baked and partially distributed, I thought it was time to have a dedicated Family and Friendship Day.
After going on a "lunch date" with Alpay for the first time in weeks, I drew up a list of things I've been wanting to do: call up friends, look at a family blog, make plans to visit my Dad this spring, catch up on emails, visit a couple message boards I subscribe to and check in with other members, and write a few cards. It felt great to get out and do something fun, and to come back and reconnect with others in ways that didn't involve sprinkles or powdered sugar.
