If there's one thing I hate, it's people who pretend to be more organized than they are. You know the type: I'm talking about the person who looks around your (mostly clean) place and proclaims it an utter mess, but then when you go to their place and catch them off-guard, you discover processed cheese in-between the sofa cushions. Not that I'm one to throw the first can of Cheez Whiz here, folks. No one I've ever lived with has ever accused me of being a neat-freak, that's for sure. But you can trust I won't get all holier-than-thou on you when I still have my own organization issues I'm dealing with.
Which bring us to Technology Week here on the Quest. How can 8 months go by without once delving into cable- and cord-management, safe storage of digital equipment, email organization or how to clean computer equipment? Several readers have written to me wanting to know. The truth is, I haven't gotten the whole technology thing quite figured out. Up until now, if my keyboard or mouse has gotten soaked with coffee or jammed with crumbs, my strategy has been to get a new one. This is basically a riff off my old strategy of getting a new email address when the old one is maxxed out, or getting a new cordless phone when I can't figure out how to replace the battery. In other words, I'm not convinced I'm in the position to give anyone technology advice, even if all we're talking about is cleaning your keyboard or clearing out your email.
But what the heck, I'll try. Luckily I have some techno-savvy friends who've clued me in and pointed the way to some helpful products, sites, and techniques to get and keep you organized on the technology front. So that's what's on the agenda this week.
